When we go to the library, Mr 6 gets his set of books, mostly junior fiction and a picture book or two, which we borrow on his library card, then I get my stack of picture books and junior fiction, borrowed on my card. This is one of mine.
I couldn’t pass by the gorgeous cover and endpapers!
At home, I always leave picture books lying around in very obvious places and Mr 6 picked this up. I watched him reading and could see he enjoyed it. The sparse text of 125 words strings together a narrative to soothe the middle child.
When you’re in the middle . . . you’re not the oldest, and you’re not the youngest. You are right in between. There’s someone bigger who helps you and someone smaller who needs you.
The middle child is perfectly positioned to hold their own in challenges and knows when to give in too. And, is the best one to wave the white flag in sibling conflicts! We see the middle bunny leading the younger one, then following the older one and going her own way too. Some lows of being in the middle are hand-me-down clothes (and probably toys too) and room sharing. The book ends with a comforting scene of all three bunnies cuddled together, reading a book and the reassuring words

This is a sweet simple read that children will love and the charming illustrations are filled with delightful details!
Suggested age: Read aloud to 3+, Read by self 5+. Recommended for a beginner reader.
