Knock Knock Pirate by Caryl Hart & Nick East

When pirates start knocking on your door, things can get crazy, fun and chaotic!

This is a counting book with a difference as a little girl’s imagination runs wild when her parents are out at work. Pirates come and whisk her away on a treasure hunt across the seas. In between meeting and counting the different types of pirates, the story moves forward at full speed and the setting changes from her house to the treacherous seas, then back home again.

The captain comes first, with big purple hair, wearing a skirt and demands treasure. Then count up to ten as more pirates arrive. The house turns into a ship and they set sail to find treasure. There are encounters with giant squids, whales, mermaids, sharks and even a walk the plank! Lots of pirate and ship words to enjoy in this book, from Arrrr and Jolly Roger to mainsail, decks and rigging!

The rhyming text is a blast to read! The illustrations are the best! We enjoyed every page, clear and colourful, there is so much detail to look at!
