Have You Seen My New Blue Socks? by Eve Bunting & Sergio Ruzzier

When we meet duck, who is a nice shade of green with a yellow beak and red shoes, he looks miserable.

The problem is promptly presented: missing new blue socks.

Follow duck as he thinks out loud, in rhyming verse, of all the possible places to look and friends to ask. He tries the box, fox, ox and rocks, yet no sign of the new blue socks.

“I have lost my new blue socks. Have you seen them, Mr Ox?”

Then, he thinks of asking his friends the peacocks, if they might know the location of his socks, which ends up being a very good idea.

Little ones will be excited when halfway through a bit of blue reveals where the socks are.

See if you can spot where duck has put his new blue socks!

The simple text reads beautifully and has a rhythm that is engaging. Its a perfect book for the child learning to read, as more than half of all the words are the first 100 sight words.

Suggested age: Read aloud to 3+. Read by self 5+. Recommended for a beginner reader.
